EverySpice is a place for families to keep their recipes, stories, and photos from getting lost. These terms are the plain-English rules for using it. They're a real, binding agreement between you and EverySpice — we've just tried to write them the way we'd explain them at the table, not the way a form letter would.
EverySpice is operated from the United States. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
EverySpice is intended for adults and teens managing a family kitchen — it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at hello@everyspice.com and we'll remove it.
You sign in with a magic link sent to your email address — there are no passwords to manage or leak. Some families also enable Conversational Legacy Harvesting, which lets a member text a recipe in from their phone; if that's turned on for your family, we handle the phone number that texts in as described in our Privacy Policy.
You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since that email is how you get into EverySpice. Tell us right away at hello@everyspice.com if you think someone else has access to your account.
The recipes, stories, photos, and voice memos you add to EverySpice belong to you — not to us. We don't claim ownership of anything you contribute, and we don't sell it, license it out, or use it to train third-party products.
What we do need is a limited license: by adding content, you give EverySpice permission to store it, back it up, and display it exactly according to the visibility you choose for it — private (only you), family (the family circle you designate), or public (anyone using EverySpice). You control that setting per recipe, and you can change it or delete the content at any time. If you delete your account, we delete your content along with it, aside from what we're required to keep for a short period for backups, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.
You're responsible for having the right to share what you upload — for example, a recipe your grandmother taught you is yours to share, but please don't upload someone else's copyrighted cookbook pages wholesale.
EverySpice is built around family recipes, many of them tied to people who've passed on. Comments, gratitude notes, and other contributed text pass through what we internally call the kindness gate before they're shown to anyone else — content that's cruel, harassing, hateful, or otherwise out of step with a family table gets blocked or routed for review rather than published.
We don't run ads and we don't use star ratings on family recipes. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, harass other users, or abuse the service.
You agree not to scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract content from EverySpice using automated tools, not to circumvent visibility or access controls, and not to use the service to build a competing product from other families' recipes. Reasonable, good-faith use of your own content (exporting your own recipes, for instance) is always fine.
Some features (like EverySpice Plus or a Hosting Kit purchase) are paid. Payments are processed by Stripe — EverySpice never sees or stores your full card number. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; you can cancel any time from your billing settings, and cancellation stops future charges but doesn't refund past ones except where required by law or stated otherwise at purchase.
Founding Families pricing, where offered, is locked for as long as you keep that subscription active without a lapse.
EverySpice is in beta. We're a small team building this in the open, and features may change, break, or be incomplete. We work hard to keep your recipes safe, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available” during this period, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Please keep your own backup copies of anything irreplaceable while we're in beta.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EverySpice isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to EverySpice is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.
You can stop using EverySpice and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we'll try to give notice and a chance to resolve the issue first except in cases of serious abuse, illegal activity, or risk to other users.
We may update these terms as EverySpice grows. If we make a material change, we'll let you know by email or with a notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use EverySpice after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE — founder to confirm], without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
