- 1(1 1/2 pound) chuck steak
- 2tablespoonseasoned flour
- 2tablespoonoil
- 2tablespoontomato paste
- 1(12 ounce) can dark beer
- 1/2cupbeef stock
- 2tablespoonchopped fresh thyme
- 2onions, roughly chopped

Dust with the flour

Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown the meat

Transfer to a casserole

Add the tomato paste to the pan and stir over a low heat until it darkens to a brown/red color

Stir in the dark beer, stock and thyme

Add to the casserole with the onions, garlic, carrots, celery and mushrooms

Season with salt and pepper if wished
