- 1/2c brown sugar, packed
- 1/2c granulated sugar
- 1ts baking soda
- 1ts cream of tartar
- 1/4ts salt
- 1egg
- 1ts vanilla extract

1 c Shortening 1/2 c Brown sugar, packed 1/2 c Granulated sugar 1 ts Baking soda 1 ts Cream of tartar 1/4 ts Salt 1 Egg 1 ts Vanilla extract

In a mixing bowl, beat the shortening with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds

Add the brown sugar, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt

beat until mixed

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined

Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer

Stir in any remaining flour with a wooden spoon
