- 1c brown sugar
- 1c walnuts; chopped
- 1/3c candied orange peel; chopped
- 1/8ts nutmeg
- 1/8ts cinnamon
- 1/8ts ground cloves
- 1/2ts anise seed

Cook the sugar and water together until the syrup spins a thread

Remove from heat and add the nuts, spices and orange peel

Add the flour and knead into a smooth dough

Roll thin, cut into small squares or round shapes and bake at 350 until light brown, 8-12 minutes
