- 1cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
- 3/4cup granulated sugar
- 3/4cup packed light brown sugar
- 1tsp vanilla extract

In bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt

In large mixer bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy

Gradually add flour mixture, beating well

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired
