- 116 oz jar karo blue label syrup -- looks like molasses
- 1/2poundbrown sugar
- 214 oz bottle ketchup
- 1 -2pounds salt pork -- sliced
- 6large maui onion -- diced

soak overnight in a large bowl with plenty of water

Next day drain

place beans in a large pot in fresh water and bring to a boiling point

Add 1 tablespoon baking soda

Stir for a few minutes

Drain in colander

Rinse pot and return beans to pot with fresh water
